"NO WAY CAN I GO TO THAT PARTY!" pope protested promptly. "rafe and topper fucked me up, you think i'm gonna give them another reason to?"
"they did what?" imogen exclaimed angrily, her head snapping towards pope. "when!"
"when me and jj were doing deliveries..." the heyward boy explained, lifting up his cap to show her the healing wound just below his hairline.
"oh my god," the girl gasped. "please tell me you kicked their asses, jj, because i swear to god, i'll march over there right now and—"
"don't worry, we paid 'em back." the blonde boy grinned, nudging pope. "didn't we, buddy?"
"jj!" pope whispered sharply, signalling for him to stop talking.
imogen raised an eyebrow. "okay, what did you do—"
"—it doesn't matter, okay!" the heyward boy looked both guilty and nervous. "besides, we still can't go to that party. we're using the drone in the water to look for the merchant tommorow."
"what has that got to do with tonight?" imogen groaned.
"we'll be too hammered to even think about getting up tomorrow! it's out of the question."
"dude, chill." jj shook pope's shoulders. "everything's gonna be alright. it's not a big fucking deal."
"look, you can be boring if you want, but i wanna have some fun this summer. not that this whole 'treasure hunt' shit isn't fun, but i'm talking about normal-teenage fun." imogen protested with a shrug. "so i'm going to that party. and i'll be fine in the morning, i promise."
