Sensitive topic

I go over to them and crouch down in between Pope and JJ and check John b's pulse. He was still unconscious meaning he must've struggled with his head under water a lot more than what it looked like.

I was still looking down at John b when I felt a few pair of eyes staring at me.

I look up and see the group was staring at me.

"What?" I ask completely oblivious as to why they were staring at me.

"Still heartbroken?" JJ asked gaining a death glare from Pope and a smack to the back of the head from Kie.

"Dude!"

"JJ!"

"Ow Kie, what the hell!" He scolded the brunette girl while rubbing the back of his head.

"Dude you can't straight up ask someone if they're heartbroken. It's rude. And probably a sensitive topic." Pope said like if he was stating the obvious.

I couldn't help but laugh at them.

"Uhm it's ok guys, no JJ I'm not heartbroken-well not anymore anyways." I answered JJ's question with a little bit of hesitation. Which gained confused looks from the group.

"Uhm something happened with me and my boyfriend a couple of months ago and my dad thinks I'm still heartbroken- which I'm not but I gotta admit it is still kind of a sensitive topic so can we maybe like not talk about it... please?" I said all of that pretty fast and I'm surprised that they all actually understood what I said.

"Y-yeah sorry I didn't mean to make you upset." The blonde boy said looking at me with apologetic eyes.

"It's ok and besides it takes a lot more than just a sensitive topic to make me cry." I laughed. No. I didn't laugh I giggled . And I never giggle.

WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO ME?!

"Hey maybe we should get John b back home now." I interrupted my own thoughts and the slightly awkward silence that was growing between me and the group.

"Yea good idea." Pope agreed standing up and wrapping John b's arm over his shoulder. I went around to John b's other side and did the same so Pope didn't have to carry all his weight.

"Alright let's go to my car."

Me and Pope walked ahead of JJ and Kie to get to my car. Once we got to the black Jeep I told Kie to unlock the back door so we could lay John b down on the seats. We get in the car. Kie is driving, Pope is in the front with her, and JJ is in the back with me and John b.

We're now at John b's house. And I love it. I've only been here for like 3 minutes but I feel like I live here. His home feels so welcoming. I mean it's just a rusty old fish shack next to a dock that leads to the marsh but, it's somehow more homey then any house I've ever lived in. It feels like a home.

"Ok just set him down in the couch and I'll go get the first aid kit." Kie instructed as she walked in behind me and Pope. We did as she said and sat down next to John b while Pope just wandered off and JJ rummaged through his fridge. I saw Kie come out of a room that I can only assume is the bathroom holding a first aid kit.

"Ok boys let's start clea- oh Maddie you're still here?" She asked cutting off her own sentence.

"Yea I just wanted to make sure John b was ok before I left." Glancing at the unconscious brunette and then at the girl holding the kit.

She just nodded her head and walked over to the passed out boy on the pullout couch.

"Hey i-if you guys want I can help clean up John b. I'm pretty good at playing doctor." I offered even though they probably don't need my help but, I live-lived with the Avengers and I do a pretty good job at cleaning up cuts and wounds if I do say so myself.

"Thanks but I think we'll be fine."

"I mean if you insist."

"Yea I think it would be interesting to see the hot kook help John b."

Kie snapped her head back to look at the boys giving them a 'are you serious' look. She obviously didn't want me here so I'm just gonna leave cause why would I stay somewhere I'm not wanted.

I stood up and grabbed my keys that were on the couch next to John b. "Ok well I'm obviously not wanted here so I'm just gonna-" I pointed at the door to signal that I was leaving. "-yea."

I grabbed the doorknob and was about to walk out when a voice stopped me.

"Thanks for helping us get John b home safely Maddie." I turned around and saw Kie looking up at me with a tight lipped smile.

"No problem Kie."
