THE COURT ROOM was a scary place for all. The families of the defendant and the plaintiff's as they waited too see if they won. But, you're never more scared then the defendant.

As June walked in the courtroom with her father she immediately noticed the difference in sides. Ward Cameron and his family was on one side whilst the pogues were on the other. So, she already knew who she was sitting with as she grabbed her fathers hand to pull her with him.

But, he pulled back and she looked at him with a confused glare, "You okay? I thought you said you wanted to come?" She whispered in his ear, staring at her fathers taller figure. He only shook his head, "I'm gonna sit with Ward, sweetheart. We have to talk business."

June was baffled to here that sentence fall out of his mouth, "Your gonna sit with the dad of the person that shot me?" June immediately let her hand fall out of his, squeezing the hem of her dress. When she looked at his annoyed expressed, a sad chuckle came out her throat, "You don't believe me either do you?"

Her father— Jorge put his hand on his shoulder, rubbing it softly, "It's business. How do you think we get our money? Business." He smiled. "Ward has dirty money. Mom wouldn't have wanted you to work with somebody like that."

"Well, she's not here is she?" That words made her take a step back from him as she looked at him like she had seen a ghost. "Fuck you, dad. Choke on your fucking business." She slapped his hand away, her boots making a loud noise against the floor.

Kiara immediately turned her head at the noise, scooting over for her. "Where's your dad? You said he was coming." June didn't say anything because all she had to do was look to her left. Kiara watched as the male took out his notebook and began reading something to Ward whilst Rafe stared directly at her. Though, this time she didn't look away, looking at him with every hateful muscle in her bone.

Her thoughts were brought back when a hand was sat on her thigh, "We'll be okay." Kiara whispered, inhaling deeply. June nodded in response, her eyes tracing amongst her face.

The doors opened and John B was now walking out and he almost looked unfamiliar. His orange jumpsuit was blinding to the eye as she looked at Sarah. The girl looked eyes with June and sent her a tight lipped grin, which was ignored.

"John Booker Routledge, pursuant to the North Carolina statute section John Booker Routledge, pursuant to the North Carolina statute section, you are charged with murder in the first degree with aggravated circumstances alongside the attempted murder of June Quinn." John B looked back at June who only could stare back with nothing to say, only shaking her head with a guilty expression.

Because for once in her life she was useless. She could do nothing to help him and she felt as if this was her fault. If she would've just spoke up sooner maybe Rafe would've been locked up by now. But, that's just not how it works in the Outerbanks.

"If convicted, the maximum sentence will be the death penalty." Those words made all the pogues jump up in shock, "Your honor he's," they began only to be cut off, "Quiet!"

"He's a kid! Are you serious!" June yelled, before a police officer stepped infront of her. "He didn't do anything!" She cried out, Pope grabbing her wrist as he pulled her back, death staring the Judge and officer, "He's innocent!" They pleaded.

"John B!" Sarah sobbed, rushing to the front, "Don't fucking touch her!" June argued, pulling off Pope as she grabbed Sarah. "Come on, we are gonna figure this shit out." Sarah cried against her, stomping out.

"Are we in hell right now?" Sarah sniffled, "I should have never came home." June shook her head, looking at the angry Carrera girl infront of her.

"You okay? Rafe don't let them get to you okay. The system is working." Camilla said as she wrapped her arm around his neck, smiling under him. Rafe could only look at his feet, the longing stare from a certain group of people making his heart beat in his chest.
