some time later i heard JJ stir beside me.

his eyelids fluttered, then opened slowly.

"morning," his pupils were unfocused and his voice was husky.

"morning," i grinned. "how'd you sleep?"

"like a baby," he rubbed his eyes and ran a hand through his messy hair.

"you know you snore." i raised my eyebrows.

"what?! no i don't!"

i laughed. "no you don't,"

he rolled his eyes and looked at the alarm clock. "shouldn't we get up?"

"we're on holiday, we deserve to lie in."

"alright," he laid back and out his arm around me.

i rested my head on his chest, moving his necklace so it didn't dig into my cheek.

"thanks for staying," he whispered.

"thanks for the bracelet," i shook my wrist.

"don't worry about it," he held up his own wrist to show me the ones still left. "i have too many."

"it was still a sweet thing to do." i draped my arm over his stomach.

some time later, Pope burst into the room.

"JJ where's the- oh my God!" he covered his eyes and turned around, bumping into the dresser.

JJ simply laughed as i stared at the boy blundering around. "what is it, Pope."

"Kie wanted to know where the weed is!"

"weed for breakfast?" i laughed.

"it's two in the afternoon!"

"what?!" i looked at the alarm clock. "shit, shit, fucking shit!" i jumped out of bed.

"calm down, we've got nowhere to be!" JJ sat up.

"yes we do! we're on a fucking treasure hunt!"

i got in the shower, not waiting for the water to heat up before washing my hair and body.

i hopped out, wrapping myself in a towel and rushing into my closet.

i put on a dark green bikini and pulled a floaty white dress over the top.

i didn't bother with my hair or makeup and headed downstairs.

"afternoon," John B raised his eyebrows.

"shut up," i took some strawberries from the fridge.

"we should leave soon," Pope didn't look at me or JJ.

"well i'm ready," i said.

"let's go then," JJ stood up and grabbed the car keys off the table.

as i pulled out of the driveway, i glanced in the rear-view mirror, noticing a big car with blacked out windows parked outside the gates.

i wouldn't have classed it as strange, but all our neighbours were away in their second homes and the street was private.

who was in that car?
