RAFE'S POINT OF VIEW

i watched her leave.

i loved her with my whole stupid heart.

she was funny, and brave and honest... and manipulative, sarcastic and vain.

but i loved her with my entire fucking soul, and i hoped she still loved me too.

i took the little ring box out of my pocket and opened it, revealing the ruby engagement ring.

i'd been waiting for the perfect time to give it to her.

maybe i never would now.

she seemed pretty upset.

fuck that, she was heartbroken.

why did i do that...?

i heard her talking to Rose, then two sets of feet going down into the basement.

i sat down heavily on the sofa and thought for a few minutes, before going into the basement.

Sarah was passed out on the armchair, a china tea cup about to drop from her limp fingers.

Juno took it and placed it gently on the tray.

"June,"

she didn't acknowledge me.

"J, i need to talk to you."

she looked at Rose who nodded.

Juno got up and followed me upstairs into the kitchen.

"what?" she leaned on the island.

"i need to take care of Renfield."

"how do you take care of a dead man?"

yeah, she was pissed.

"you know what i mean," i said. "dump the body."

"alright,"

"are you coming?"

"i have to pack."

"i thought you didn't want to see me."

"you need help with the cross—among other things. plus it's half mine and i need to make sure it's being handled properly."

"alright. you want me to drop you off at your place? i'll pick you up on my way back?"

she bit her lip, considering my offer.

"or... you could take my car?"

"i'll go with you i guess. saves me driving."
she sounded so tired.

"alright... cool. cool," fuck, why was i making it so awkward?

"cool cool cool." June said under her breath.

"uh, we should get going."
