Strangers

"Cheers!" One of your friends cheered happily. Everyone held their glass up and downed their shot.

This night, you were at a party with some friends. You weren't exactly a party person but your friends kept pushing you to go with them this time, so you decided to just roll with it.

The shot you just took streamed down your throat. Maybe this night wouldn't end so badly. You all went to the dance floor and cheerfully danced to the loud music. The long night was filled with drinking, laughing, and dancing.

Surprisingly, you had a lot of fun.

After a few hours you kind of lost everybody. Maybe they went out to get a drink? You took this chance to step outside for a minute to breathe in some fresh air. It was pretty hot and sticky in there. Especially during a summer night in the Outer Banks.

Looking around, you noticed your friends weren't there either. Where the hell could they be? You decided to text them in the group app.

"Heyy girls, where aare you, literally can'tt find you😂."

You were a bit drunk but you managed.

Walking back inside, you hoped you could grab a drink before your friends found you again. When you took your first sip, your phone buzzed.

"Oh yeah we already left, sorry"

Wait, what?

They were already gone?

Why didn't they tell you? How where you supposed to get home? You all drove together and they probably took the car. It was a 20-minute drive so you couldn't just walk home. There was no way you could call your parents.

You were stuck here.

You looked around. Was there anybody you recognized? Anyone that could maybe give you a lift home.

"Are you okay?" A voice suddenly asked. You looked up to see a pretty blond boy staring at you. You didn't know him.

"Uhm yeah- actually no- uh, my friends left without me so I just don't know what to do" you answered a bit nervously. To be honest you didn't know how he would react. You were just a random stranger.

"Oh shit. They really left and left you here?"

You sighed and nodded. "Yep."

"I'm sorry, sounds like they're horrible friends." You laughed. Maybe a part of that was true.

"Well I'm here with my best friend, John B, but he ditched me for his girl Sarah Cameron." You knew Sarah, she was the most famous kook on this island. So if this guy was friends with Sarah Cameron, he probably also had a shit ton of money. You and your parents lived on the Cut, so probably quite the opposite.

"So if Sarah is one of your friends you're a kook a like her?" You asked, trying to make conversation. To your surprise, he laughed out loud. "No no, don't get me wrong. But my friends and I are the biggest Pogues on this Island." Oops, you thought.

"I'm JJ by the way."

"Y/n, nice to meet you." You shook his hand.

For a minute, the conversation went silent. Both of you didn't really know what to say. Somehow, you liked being in JJ's presence. It could be the alcohol, but he made you feel comfortable.

Suddenly JJ broke the silence when he asked you a question. "Would you like me to drive you home?"

You stared at him and thought for a second. "I mean we're both a party we probably don't wanna be anymore cause both of our friends left without us." You looked at each other before bursting into laughter.

"You can say it like that, yeah. But how do I know that I can trust you?" You asked smiling.

JJ shrugged. "I promise that I won't kidnap or murder you." He held his hand up. You laughed. "Well, that's very convincing."

If you were sober, you probably would never ever let a random boy take you home. But because of all the drinks you had, something inside of you didn't care that you only knew this boy's name and nothing else. So you gladly accepted his offer. "Well if you don't mind, that would be great."

JJ grabbed your hand and dragged you through the crowd. When you got outside you breathed in the fresh air. "Where's your car?" You asked. JJ smirked and let out a chuckle. "What's so funny?"

He walked behind a car, and that's when you saw it. It wasn't a car, it was a motorcycle. Was this guy serious?

"Oh no absolutely not. My parents will kill me."

"They're probably already gonna kill you for letting a stranger take you home." He had a point. That was true. You thought for a second but soon realized that you had no other choice.

"Fine" you sighed. JJ handed you his helmet, but you noticed he didn't have a spare helmet. "What about you?" He shrugged his shoulders. "Don't worry about me princess."

You jumped behind him and held him tight. "Ready?" He asked. "Yep" you answered. Before you knew it, he drove off.

You didn't expect it to feel like this, so free and relaxed. Even though you barely knew this guy and sometimes he drove like a maniac, you didn't know it would feel this good. Your hands wrapped around his waist. This was definitely way better than driving home with your friends.

When JJ arrived on the Cut you gave him directions to your house. And soon you arrived. You jumped off and handed him his helmet back.

"Thank you so much for the ride."

He smiled, a very cute smile. "No problem Y/n."

"If there's anything I can do for you in return-"

"Your number" he immediately said. This made you smile, you also wanted to ask for his number but you were a little bit afraid. So you were happy that he made the move

"Sure."

JJ handed you his phone and you typed in your number, adding your name to it. "Let me know when you get home safe alright?"

"Yes ma'am" he smirked.

It was silent for a moment. "Well, goodnight JJ" you said, not wanting to say goodbye to him already.

"Goodnight Y/n."

You opened the door and walked inside, hearing JJ's engine driving away. Funny how this ended so unexpectedly well.
